Diversification

The objectives of art collecting have changed dramatically in the past decade. Collectors are looking for diversification and see art as a lucrative alternative investment. Now, there is a tremendous amount of speculative selling and buying in the art market. This is especially true for emerging artists at auction by collectors hoping for a windfall. Caveat emptor! We certainly don't want our collectors getting caught up in a frenzied market. Emerging artists are certainly entitled to recognition and monetary compensation. However, credibility is built over decades and the true test for all artists is to be able to sustain a lifelong career. Unfortunately, very few artists are able to do this. Again, this is when our experience as art advisors counts tenfold.
